Bolt-on Wheel Spacer
Step 1: Loosen Wheel Bolts
Before lifting your car, loosen the lug nuts on the wheels. The resistance of the tires against the ground ensures you have enough torque to turn the lugs without the wheel spinning.
Step 2: Lift the Vehicle
Use a jack to lift the car and secure it with jack stands for stability. If you have access to a car lift, it will make the process even easier.
Step 3: Remove the Wheels
Carefully take off the wheels and set them aside.
Step 4: Clean the Lug Studs
Spray degreaser on the lug studs and clean any rust or debris with a wire brush. A clean surface ensures the wheel spacer sits flush against the hub.
Step 5: Position the Wheel Spacer
Place the wheel spacer onto the hub and align it with the lug studs. Hand-tighten the bolts to hold it in place, but don’t torque them yet.
Step 6: Torque the Spacer Bolts
Using a torque wrench, tighten the spacer bolts to the manufacturer-recommended specifications. Proper torque is essential to avoid vibrations and ensure safety.
Step 7: Reinstall the Wheel
Align the wheel onto the spacer and hand-tighten the lug nuts. Use a star pattern when torquing the lug nuts to evenly distribute pressure and avoid imbalance.
Step 8: Repeat for All Wheels
Repeat the process for each remaining wheel, lifting and lowering the car as needed if you don’t have a lift.
Step 9: Lower the Vehicle
Carefully lower the car and ensure all tools are removed.
After Installation: Final Checks
Test Drive: Take your vehicle for a short drive to check for vibrations, unusual noises, or wheel wobble.
Re-Torque After 100 Miles: After driving 100 miles, re-check the torque on all bolts to ensure the spacers remain secure.
